Our partners in Colombia took a moment to say thank you to Holt sponsors who support children in their programs. As Colombia recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, they want sponsors to know that their support is making all the difference in children’s lives!

Dear Sponsor, 

Greetings with gratitude from Colombia! I want to thank you for the support you have given the children in our programs in Colombia during 2022. Your help has been a sign of solidarity and generosity for our children and families. 

“Today, we are working together for our children and for their future.”

It has been a time of great challenges for Colombia after the pandemic, where we have valued being together again. It has been a time in which our country has slowly resumed the routine of adjusting again to all the new situations and the difficult economic conditions, not only in Colombia but worldwide. 

Today, we are working together for our children and for their future. Our children and their families have been resilient and have received with appreciation your affection and kindness. 

Thanks to your help, children in the sponsor-supported preschool program received foundational early education and social-emotional learning. Weekly music, art and tumbling classes fostered creativity and self-expression while developing motor skills and improving memory, attention and concentration. Children with developmental delays or learning challenges received individualized speech, occupational and physical therapies. They also benefitted from tutoring and educational outings to help them meet developmental milestones, overcome challenges, and grow to their fullest potential. 

Parents participated in workshops that explore healthy child development, nutrition and safety. With an emphasis on violence and abuse prevention, parents learned non-violent conflict resolution skills and gained tools to manage challenging behaviors while strengthening relationships with their children. 

Thanks to these programs, children have developed a strong self-esteem and sense of security, trust and can better face the future that awaits them. With their willing hearts and big smiles, they lovingly teach us to be brave and not to lose hope. 

With your support, families have gained different tools to face post-pandemic challenges, such as anxiety or different psychological problems that they or their children experienced as a result of quarantine periods and the uncertainty of the pandemic. For families with babies and young children, free access to daycare and nutrition services has been a critical resource as they work to graduate from poverty. 

The parents are very grateful for all the opportunities given to them and feel fortunate that their children attend the programs you support.
