Hi, I'm Trong
I'm a boy, 12 years old and live in Vietnam.
Trong is the first of two children in an under poverty family in Phuong Cach commune, Quoc Oai district. He lives with his parents, an aunt and a brother. His aunt is deaf and mute; she does not have working ability and receives 800,000VND per month (~US$34/month) as government subsidy for persons with disabilities. His father earns about 400,000 – 500,000VND per month (US$17-21/month) from making votive objects. His mother makes a living from doing casual jobs in the area, such as washing dishes and polishing things with sandpaper. It is estimated that she can get the monthly income of US$149. The family’s 720 square meters of paddy field yields about 2.5 quintals of rice per year. In 2018, the family’s current house was constructed with financial supports from individual philanthropist and charitable funds.
Trong does not have chronic diseases.
After being referred to Holt, Trong would receive a grant from Holt-Vietnam Scholarship Program in Sept. 2020.
