Hi, I'm Tung
I'm a boy, 11 years old and live in Vietnam.
Tung and his younger sister live with their paternal grandparents and mother after their father died in an automotive accident in 2018. The person who caused the accident left the scene and was not caught due to lack of witnesses. In the same year, the grandmother had to undertake a surgery to remove uterine tumor, which weaken her overall health drastically. The mother became the only income earner in the house, as the grandparents do not have pension and government subsidy. She works in a clothing factory with the monthly salary of US$170. She takes bus to for a daily round-trip commute of 60km to work in Chuong My commune. The family own 720 square meters of paddy field but does not get any income from it.
At time of referral, Tung has normal health.
After being referred to Holt, Tung would receive a grant from Holt-Vietnam Scholarship Program in September 2020.
