Hi, I'm Lika
I'm a girl, 5 years old and live in Cambodia.
Lika was enrolled in the community preschool by her parents. Her age was right for schooling and her parents believed that going to school could help her prepare well for grade 1. Lika lives with her parents and two older sisters. She is the last child in the family. Her father is a carpenter, and earns $12 a day. Her mother grows rice. Her two sisters work for a casino in Kompong Som province, and earns $700 a month each. This family has sufficient food to eat and is better financially, but their children lack proper education because the public school is far from home. That is why they would like Lika to study at a community preschool nearby, which is supported by Holt-International.
