Parent Adoptee Discovery Club

Encouraging and empowering youth adoptees

What is the Parent Adoptee Discovery Club (PADC)?

Holt’s Parent Adoptee Discovery Club is an online interactive, safe and guided experience for adoptees ages 13-17 and their parent(s) or guardians. Here, they can talk about the hard issues of adoption like birth family, grief/loss or racism.

It’s our goal to increase open, healthy communication within our families by teaching common language around these topics while providing a safe space to practice.

PADC is held twice a year, in the fall and in the spring. Our next session is Saturday, September 30.

Topics Covered in PADC include:

  • How to talk about and engage in safe, meaningful discussions about adoption within your family
  • Adoptee identity and adoption concepts
  • Grief and loss
  • Race/Microaggressions and fostering racial identity

Sometimes, parenting issues may arise that leave you uncertain as to how best to respond — but not every issue requires ongoing therapy or counseling.
