“We Are So Excited to Be Reunited With the Both of You!”

Deborah and Paul hosted two older siblings through Holt’s partnership with Kidsave’s Winter Miracles hosting program. Eight months later, the couple traveled to Colombia to reunite with the siblings — and to make them part of their forever family.

These 10- and 14-year-old siblings joined their adoptive family a little over a year ago after spending several years in foster care in Colombia. Their adoptive parents, Deborah and Paul, decided to move forward with adopting them after they stayed in their home in the U.S. for three weeks through Holt’s partnership with Kidsave’s Winter Miracles hosting program. After participating in the hosting program and returning to Colombia, older children share feedback with their care teams about being adopting internationally — and about the type of family they hope to join in the future. After meeting Deborah and Paul, they all knew it was a good fit.

“We are so excited to finally be reunited with the both of you and for you to be a part of our forever family,” Paul shared on the day they reunited after eight months apart. “We are extremely moved that you’ve chosen to be a part of our family, and we promise that we will give you all of the opportunities that life can offer.”

The Colombia hosting program is a unique partnership between the government of Colombia, Holt International and Kidsave. The program is designed for families who are considering older child adoption or are interested in advocating for older children who need families. Children in the program are typically between the ages of 10 and 15. Through the program, they stay with a host family in the U.S. for three weeks in the winter or five weeks in the summer.
