Lai’s Miraculous Heart Surgery

Holt sponsors and donors brought Lai lifesaving help just in time. 

Lai had been waiting for a heart surgery for five years — ever since doctors said she needed one when she was just 2 years old. But she lives in poverty in China with her grandparents, who couldn’t afford it. 

Lai was getting weaker and sicker with each passing year. She couldn’t play with friends anymore, or even go to school because of her heart pains. Her doctor said she needed heart surgery as soon as possible if she was going to survive. 

But then Holt donors helped raise the funds for the lifesaving heart surgery she needed! And little did anyone know how miraculous this timing would be.

Because of Holt donors, Lai received the surgery that would save her life. The surgery was successful, and she has since been recovering at home. Already, her heart pains are gone and she is feeling so much better! 

Unexpectedly, around this same time, Lai suddenly had severe heart pains. She was rushed three hours away to the nearest hospital where she learned she needed emergency heart surgery… immediately. 

Because of Holt donors, Lai received the surgery that would save her life. The surgery was successful, and she has since been recovering at home. Already, her heart pains are gone and she is feeling so much better! 

She may need another heart surgery this summer, or at least some other follow-up care and testing — but even this expense has been covered for Lai! So when the time comes, she’ll receive whatever additional medical care she needs.
