Because of Holt donors, 90 children receive free lunch at preschool.
When a preschool opened in an impoverished village in Vietnam a few years ago, everyone thought it would be a huge success.
But soon after opening, most parents pulled their children out because they couldn’t afford to pay for school lunch. And the parents couldn’t afford to give their children much at home either, maybe just a small bowl of rice.
So these 3- and 4-year-olds were missing out on an important early education and remaining malnourished.
At the beginning of last school year, 27 children suffered from malnutrition. But by the end of the year only five children still suffered, and we’ll continue to work with them until they’re healthy.
Demand for this preschool got so great that parents came from everywhere to try and enroll their children! This year, over 90 children will attend.
