While traveling overseas Holt Heritage Tour participants represent Holt International, adoptive families and adoptees, and in many
ways the success of international adoption will be judged by your conduct. On the tour we are guests in our hosts’ country, and it is
important to act with respect, patience and kindness in all situations. We ask that you — as an ambassador of international adoption
— abide by the guidelines below. This is required of every participant joining us on our tours overseas, regardless of the age of the
participant.
If a Holt Heritage Tour participant refuses to follow these guidelines, tour leaders may terminate his or her participation in the tour. If a
tour member is asked to leave, Holt will not refund or otherwise offer any compensation for any used or unused portion of the tour, nor
for any tour fees already paid. The tour participant is solely responsible for any resulting change or cancellation fees. In accordance with
the Guidelines for Holt Heritage Tour Participants while on the Holt Heritage Tour, I agree:
- to obey the laws of the host country and to respect the traditions of the local culture, and to dress and act accordingly,
respecting the values of the local culture as recommended by the Holt tour leaders; - to not participate in any activities nor visit any establishments proscribed by the tour leaders, even if invited to do so by local
residents or other visitors; - not to engage in political or religious activities that advocate a specific agenda;
- to obey local and/or US laws regarding alcohol consumption, and that if I consume alcoholic beverages, I will do so in
moderation, and not consume alcoholic beverages at times proscribed by the tour leaders; - that I will obey local laws regarding the use of any illegal substance, even if legal in your home state of residence, and that
use of any controlled substances will be limited to medicines prescribed by a physician to the tour participant.
