A celebratory meal at a Holt-supported care center in Vietnam: braised beef, chicken porridge, fresh watermelon and soda!Children enjoying the special meals provided with the help of sponsors and donors like you!After a long period of lockdowns due to COVID-19, all the children were very excited and happy to be able to enjoy Tết together!At one care center, there were many activities for the children like decorating apricot trees and playing folk games.One of the many fun activities at the Tết celebrations: singing karaoke!Some children performed songs and dances!Caregivers and staff worked hard to prepare special meals for the children to have. Food eaten during Tết can be tedious to prepare and takes a lot of time and skill.Caregivers and staff packing up bánh chưng, a traditional Vietnamese food made from sticky rice filled with mung beans and pork.Making bánh chưng is a laborious process that involves wrapping the ingredients in leaves and boiling for seven hours, resulting in a semi-sweet, semi-savory cake!Some children in the community of Ben Tre were given gifts like special sweets and candies and festive Tết foods.Children enjoying a pizza party at one care center in Vietnam!One child wanted to send a message to Holt sponsors and donors: “Wishing you have a happy and peaceful new year with your families.”
