Six-year-old Cam needs an adoptive family! His caregivers describe him as caring, joyful, active and curious. He can be shy around new people, but is open and confident once he warms up!
Cam’s favorite activity is playing with friends! He loves to use his imagination and play cars with his best friend. He is kind and sensitive to his friends’ feelings and will offer them comfort by patting their shoulder, wiping away their tears and sharing his toys.
As of November 2021, Cam was able to go back to attending in-person school after the COVID-19 pandemic closed down schools in Vietnam. In class, he is learning elementary concepts like counting, sizes and colors. His favorite color is blue!
Cam needs an adoptive family with adequate access to excellent medical and therapeutic resources. His adoptive family’s selected school should have strong academic supports like the ability to offer an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and English as a Second Language (ESL) resources. His adoptive parent(s) should have strong knowledge of or be willing to learn about the impact of trauma and institutionalization on overall child development and behavior. Cam will thrive in an adoptive family that is prepared to offer a patient and connected parenting approach to help him develop strong attachments and a sense of felt safety.
