Children in Holt’s child sponsorship program love to thank their sponsors in the U.S. with letters and drawings. Here’s a letter that one teenage girl from China wrote to her sponsors.
Yin is a 14-year-old girl who lives with her mother in China. Since Yin’s father passed away in 2021, the family has lived on her mother’s meager income from farming. But thanks to her Holt sponsor, Yin is now able to attend junior high school in her village. Her strongest subject is Chinese language, followed by English and math. Yin describes herself as being very healthy these days, saying, “I can jump every day. I am taller and fatter than before!”
When asked about her greatest wish, Yin says that she hopes for her grades to be good and for her family to be happy. If she could create a law that everyone on Earth had to follow, it would be for everyone to work hard. And if she could live anywhere in the world for a year, Yin would love to visit the U.S., traveling to New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Seattle. Yin once read an article that said that the best time to travel to the U.S. is all year round.
