In Cambodia, Holt sponsors and donors go above and beyond for students, even helping them to attend universities! This is absolutely life-changing for these students who have grown up in poverty — students like Charaya!
Charaya’s father passed away when she was 14, and her mom struggled to support all four of her children with income she made from selling desserts at the market. Sending any of them to higher education would be impossible.
But Charaya is so smart, confident and brave. She wanted to graduate from the university and find a good job. And thanks to you, she’s doing it!

Two years ago, she enrolled in Holt Cambodia’s university support program – generously funded by donors like you!
You help cover Charaya’s tuition, food and lodging. She is taking English classes, and joins Holt meetings to encourage younger students in their education. She has dedicated Holt staff who support her in her education, and help her reach her goals.
Charaya is working towards a degree in social work! She’s finishing up her third year, and then will pursue a social work internship. She wants to work with children and families in the same impoverished community where she grew up.
“Without the support from Holt, I would have no chance like this,” Charaya says. “This program gives me an excellent opportunity to continue to study at the university. I will continue to study hard to complete my Bachelor’s degree.”
