After our first “Are You Ready to Talk About Adoption?” webinar in September 2011, an overwhelming number of participants asked for MORE! On February 23rd, Holt International and Adoption Mosaic will host “Let’s Practice: Are You Ready to Talk About Adoption? Part II,” a 1-hour webinar presented by Adoption Mosaic Executive Director Astrid Dabbeni. Adoption Mosaic is an adoption education and support nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon.

Talking openly with your child about their adoption experience – at any age –takes practice. In this follow-up webinar, you will:

  • Learn strategies on how to respond to your kid’s questions, such as:
    • “Did my birthmother love me?”
    • “How much did I cost?”
    • “Was I plan B?”
    • “Do I have siblings?”
    • “When is my real birthday?’
  • Learn how to overcome your fears, such as:
    • “Will I plant a seed that was not already there?”
    • “Have I waited too long to bring up a topic?’
    • “I don’t know the right words to use.”
    • “I won’t be age-appropriate.”
  • Discuss how to use specific age-appropriate movies and books to help engage your child
