Cormac needs a family!

Cormac needs a family!

Cormac is curious.

Just like any other 2-year-old, Cormac is active and very interested in exploring the world and all that’s in it. He likes experiencing new things and will run from one place to the next, stopping only to pick up a rock to check it out.

He is a bit skeptical of cameras, and not very interested in smiling for them, and he seems to be shy with strangers. However, he does love his caregivers and likes to be held and cuddled.

Born prematurely, Cormac had an MRI in October 2017 that showed enlargement of his bilateral ventricles as well as periventricular leukomalacia, which may be due to his premature birth. He is also reported to have microcytic anemia.

In this stage of life, Cormac is learning lots of new things, like how to follow directions, tell jokes and identify different body parts.

This on-the-go toddler needs a family that is ready to help him learn even more things, has a good understanding of his medical needs and is comfortable with his developmental unknowns.

What’s Special About Colombia Adoption?

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Colombia?

Is it Pablo Escobar or the drug cartels? If so, you aren’t alone. Colombia is a country with a brutal history. But there’s another side to Colombia — a side that is passionate, resilient and full of kids who embody these traits, and who are waiting for permanent, loving families to call their own.

Benjamin’s Turn

Benjamin needs a family

Benjamin needs a family!

Three and a half years ago, Holt learned about seven children who needed families from a small but exceptional orphanage in China. One by one, six of those children were matched with their adoptive families. One by one, they said their goodbyes and left the orphanage to start new lives with their forever families.

Benjamin has been there for every goodbye. He has watched each of his friends be embraced by the families who chose them.

But Benjamin still waits. Continue reading “Benjamin’s Turn”

Raymond needs a family!

Raymond needs a family!

There Must Be a Family for Raymond!

Raymond’s caregivers are especially adamant that Raymond is a special boy who needs an adoptive family.  When asked what stands out about him, his caregivers say that he is optimistic and works very hard.

Raymond’s hard work is paying off in school. He attends a public school where his academic performance is excellent and he earns prizes for his good behavior. His favorite subject is math and he likes his math teacher. Continue reading “Raymond needs a family!”

Sofia needs a family!

Sofia needs a family!

Sofia is absolutely precious.

She’s 7-years-old and while her verbal communication skills are limited, you always know what she wants, what she likes and what she doesn’t like. She’s good at expressing her emotions. She really loves to color and draw and she’s always down for an adventure — whether it’s a picnic in the park, a piggy-back-ride through the zoo or a hand-in-hand walk to see the sights.

Our Story, His Writing – AubreyMae Adoption Story

AubreyMae has grown in our hearts for many, many years.

Anticipating becoming parents, we were aware how much we would be learning… What we didn’t expect was how much we would learn about ourselves and the beauty adoption holds. Sure, the paperwork and fundraising were time-consuming and waiting to hold her tested our patience tremendously. But we constantly reminded ourselves that as parents, you do everything possible for your child. We also constantly reminded ourselves about what she was going through.

We had to stay strong for our little one. We knew how brave and scared and lost and hopeful she would be when we would meet her for the first time. We held on to that and fought every day, prayed every day for our daughter. We met amazing people with true compassion for others and felt God’s grace through His work, using those around us. All our hearts were healed through adoption. Our little one’s heart has been through so much, and yet she lights up the room with her giggles and joy.

We are truly grateful for the staff at Holt. With the timeline and tedious paperwork, we had tremendous support that allowed us to focus on our daughter … Without them, we feel strongly the days would have felt longer, the travel would have been scarier, and our family would never be complete.

Not only are we parents to our beautiful daughter, but we are forever changed due to the beautiful journey adoption holds.

Every day, she chooses to trust and love us more and more. She is brave, she is chosen, and she is SO, SOOOO LOVED!

Heide Needs a Family!

Heide needs a family!

This last January, I visited Heide at her care center while on a trip to SE Asia.

All the buildings were painted a light yellow on the outside, and some other pastel color on the inside. There were palm trees all over, and some old playground equipment in the corner. I kept thinking to myself that it seemed so pleasant! However, the more I thought about it, I also realized that even the nicest orphanage with calming colors and committed caregivers is still no place for a child. Every child deserves to be loved and given the personal attention that only a family can give. Continue reading “Heide Needs a Family!”
