Do you know that moment when your favorite song comes on and you can’t help but move to the music? So does Mattrell! When music is on, you can find him busting some sweet dance moves and smiling from ear to ear.
Movement and dancing does not come easy to Mattrell, but he doesn’t let that stop him from doing what he loves. He was born with malformations of both arms and legs, which make it difficult for him to bend his elbows and knees. This also prevents him from walking, but with his strong sense of independence and resourcefulness, he has learned how to get where he wants to go by scooting around.
Mattrell faces new challenges each day, but also relishes the opportunities to overcome those challenges and learn new skills. He can climb onto a chair without any help and can eat and drink on his own!
In addition to learning new ways to move, he is also in school and doing well in his studies. He is on track with his peers, and gets along well with the other children. He is fascinated with watching cars, planes and anything else with an engine, and some day, he dreams of becoming a pilot.
Mattrell has been in the orphanage long enough to see several of his friends go home with adoptive families, and he wants a family of his own as well. His family will need to have good access to medical care and enjoy listening to music!
