Could you be the right family for Silas?
Silas is an active and happy boy who has been in care since he was about one day old. He is growing up and learning all kinds of things, like how to count, which colors are which and how to drive a little toy car.
If you watch Silas interact with the other kids in the orphanage, you can see that he cares about others and wants them to be happy. He is good at sharing toys and helping to take care of the younger children.
A Holt social worker that recently met him said that he has an impressive vocabulary and is quite talkative. He likes listening to Chinese poetry and can memorize poems quickly (see video)!
Silas has received corrective surgery for an issue with the Achilles tendon in his left foot and he may have mild cerebral palsy. He receives regular physical therapy and can walk with a gait difference and climb the stairs.
Silas has made the best of his circumstances, but even his good relationships with the caregivers and other children are no comparison to the love that only a family can provide. Silas needs a family who can give him the personal attention that he needs, and has access to good medical resources.
