Melissa, a girl in Holt’s Waiting Child Program, has only one month to be adopted
On June 8, when Melissa turns 14 years old, she will no longer be eligible for international adoption. Melissa is excited to have a family of her own. At Holt, we believe this dream is worth fighting for.
Because of the small time frame, Melissa requires a family who has a dossier ready and completed current paperwork. She also needs a family with the wisdom, love and understanding acquired through experience in parenting older children.
Melissa was found abandoned as a small child. Now as a young teenager, she enjoys working with younger children, has a good appetite and is serious about learning and studying. Melissa’s earlier surgery corrected her cleft lip and palate.
Would you join us in asking God for a family for this precious, young girl? Perhaps He will nudge you or bring someone to mind who could embrace Melissa and wrap her into their loving family.
If you would consider bringing Melissa into your home, and giving her the loving family she so desperately needs, email Jessica Palmer in the Waiting Child Program at jessicap@holtinternational.org or call (541) 687-2202.

Praying that she finds a family.
I So wish that we were bow to adopt but we have two more years till we meet the requirments. At least we can pray for Mellisa.
A friend asked me what happens if she doesn’t get adopted by June 8. I wanted to explain, but I didn’t want to be negative or come off as if I was trying to make anyone feel guilty. I also realized, all I was doing was speculating. For the little I know, could in fact be stereotypes or myth. I didn’t truly KNOW and I’d never discussed or heard any non-’success’ stories.
I think for people to understand how much of an impact they have on the lives of the children waiting for adoption, perhaps Holt could spread some awareness and general info of what the negative consequences could be.
This could be a chance and way to shed light to encourage people to adopt older children or children requiring exceptional care and attention. It might also help adoptees of varied backgrounds to fully realize how their lives could have been different had they not had their opportunities. I know I didn’t realize it until I was an adult and researched the laws of Asian countries and socio-economic histories steeped in centuries and tied to dynasty ages a bit more rather than just accepting the little public schools in the U.S. failed to explore.
Praying for this little girl to find God’s perfect family!
I wish we were young enough to adopt her. We adopted our daughter from Korea (through Holt) in 1987. May the Lord spread his arms around her and carry her to a loving family.
